That’s Elvis. On sax is my grandfather, Bill Ulyate who worked as a studio musician for 20th Century Fox in the 50’s-60’s. He also had a dance band with his brother, trombonist Lloyd Ulyate, called the Elliott Brother’s Orchestra (Ulyate is hard to pronounce, hence ‘Elliott’. The band also played at Disneyland, hired by Walt himself, as the house band for Date Nite At Disneyland, Friday and Saturday nights in the Carnation Plaza).⠀

Elvis made 3 movies with Fox between 1956-61. Not sure which one this was, but they hired Bill’s band to play the wrap party. Elvis jumped on the drums, and someone took a photo. I’m so glad they did, Grandpa Bill died before I was born and grateful to have photos like these ❤️⠀

9 years ago I bought a trailer and built a house on it. Moved to the bay area and lived in 120 sq ft with another person and a big floppy dog for 5 years, hell of a good time. Heartened to hear the CZU lightning fire threatening much of my surrounding areas in Northern California is 33% contained today after burning almost 2 weeks, thousands of acres and over 1000 structures, most of which homes. It’s a far cry from over, but a huge feat in itself.
